Fitting guide
How to fit window graphics
What you'll need:
- A squeegee or plastic card
- A spray bottle of water with a drop of washing-up liquid
- A sharp craft knife
- A tape measure or ruler
- A lint-free cloth
- Clean the glass really well and dry it. Any dust or grit left behind will show as a bump under the vinyl.
- Mark where the graphic goes with a couple of small pieces of masking tape, measuring from the frame so it sits straight.
- Spray the glass with your soapy water so the whole area is wet.
- Peel the backing off the graphic and lightly spray the sticky side too. The water won't harm the print or the vinyl.
- Lay the graphic on the glass. The water lets you slide it into place, so take your time lining it up with your marks.
- Squeegee from the middle outwards, with firm, overlapping strokes, to push out the water and any air bubbles.
- If your graphic has a clear application tape on the front (cut lettering and manifestation usually do), leave it for about 30 minutes, then peel it back slowly at a low angle, keeping it close to the glass.
- Trim any edges with the craft knife if you need a neat fit to the frame, and wipe off the extra water.
Leave it alone for 24 to 48 hours while the last of the water dries out and the adhesive grips. Small cloudy patches or water bubbles usually clear by themselves in a few days. Wait a week before cleaning over it, and use a soft cloth, not a scraper.
Questions
Good to know
Do you do glass manifestation?
Yes. Frosted bands, dots and logos for glass doors and screens have their own page, with prices for supply only or supplied and fitted.
Does it go on the inside or outside of the glass?
Most window graphics go on the inside, where they are protected from the weather. Tell us which side you will fit it and we will make it the right way round.
Can you do other sizes or shapes?
Yes. Choose the nearest size on the order form and put your exact sizes in the notes. We will confirm the price before we start.
